Federal Child Support Tables

The Federal Child Support Tables are the official Canadian schedule that sets the basic monthly amount of child support based on the payor's annual income, the number of children, and the province.

The Tables are part of the Federal Child Support Guidelines. They are mandatory: a judge can refuse to approve a separation agreement that pays less than the Table amount without a strong reason. Going above the Table is fine. The Tables have been updated several times — 2006, 2011, 2017, and 2025. The version that applies depends on your separation date. Most family law software uses the wrong table if it has not been updated for the 2025 changes. The Tables only cover the basic monthly amount — special and extraordinary expenses (Section 7) are paid on top.
